Project Settings

Click the "Project Settings" button in the toolbar to enter the "Project Settings" interface.

The information entered for "Longitude" and "Latitude" will update the longitude and latitude in SketchUp, serving as the basis for importing meteorological irradiation data and conducting solar radiation analysis for the project. (The longitude and latitude refer to the coordinates of the SketchUp origin point.)

Please use " ° " as the unit for input when entering the "Longitude" and "Latitude". You can enter 114.370617° or 114°22′14.22″.

Orgin coordiantes

The "Origin Coordinates" are used for converting the coordinates of a model in SketchUp to the real-world geodetic coordinates. This option is optional. The accurate settings are required when import contour lines from CAD.

When import contour lines from CAD into SketchUp, the software does not import the coordinate information associated with CAD points and lines. Instead, it uses the minimum X, Y, and Z values present in the imported topographic map file as the coordinate origin to reconstruct the coordinate system. If user want to display the true geodetic coordinates of the terrain in SketchUp, user need to enter the correct X, Y, and Z coordinates in the "Origin Coordinates". Please refer to Section 5.5.1 of "CAD Topographic Map Preparation" for detailed correction principles and operational steps. The "Unit of Length" is mainly used for cases where the length unit in contour lines are not meters, such as feet for topographic maps of North American projects.

Coordinate transformation

The ability to convert between the latitude-longitude coordinate system and the geodetic coordinate system has been added since version 2.7.x. Only when it is necessary to transform geodetic coordinates into latitude and longitude later, are the following three items required to be set:
